Dale Lynn Sheppard, 50, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, October 29, 2018 at his home. Born March 15, 1968 in Berkeley Springs, WV, he was the son of Donald Sheppard and the late Charlotte Whisner Sheppard who preceded him in death in October of 2017.

He served as a Ranger with the US Army Airborne Divison from 1987-1993 and then served with the US Army Reserves for two years prior to being honorably discharged. Dale had a true gift for what he did in his career. He was employed as the Manager at Sterling Optical in Westminster, MD where he had worked for the past nine years. Previously he had been employed as a District Manager with U.S. Vision for five years. Dale was a member of the Chambersburg Bible Church. He was proud of his military service and loved and supported the US Military. He enjoyed target shooting and most importantly spending time with his family. He will lovingly be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love of laughter.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Heather Stone Sheppard, whom he married June 9, 2001; his sister, Connie Brody and husband Bruce of Hedgesville, WV; and three brothers, Donald Sheppard, Jr. and wife Anne of Gettysburg, PA, Dennis Sheppard and wife Melody of Buckhannon, WV, and Darren Sheppard and wife Anna Mae of Berkeley Springs, WV.

A memorial service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Chambersburg Bible Church, Chambersburg. PA. Pastor Gary Yoder will officiate. The United States flag will be presented by members of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dale’s memory may be made to the Chambersburg Bible Church, 810 Orchard Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L.
