James L. Eyer, age 80, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 20, 2017, at the Fresenius Kidney Care Center. Born June 25, 1937, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Viola Gelwicks Eyer.
A 1955 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mr. Eyer went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army; after the Army, Mr. Eyer went to work at American Can Company in Chambersburg, where he would later retire in 1987. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins, and gardening.
Surviving are three daughters, Candace J. Jones of Chambersburg, PA, Patti Caldwell of Chambersburg, PA, and Penny Lynch (husband Mark) of Lewistown, PA; four grandchildren, Randy Jones, Miranda Lynch, Rachelle Lynch, Tonya VonKaler; a great-grandson, Tate McCalips, and a brother, Don Eyer of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA.
